An in-person retreat offers you the valuable opportunity to fully switch off from distractions and go deeper in your practice. You'll also have beautiful scenery to explore during the scheduled free time - whether that's lunch by the flower-surrounded ponds or a longer walk through the surrounding Malvern Hills. Above all, you'll benefit from that special ingredient of practice in a shared space - a distinct energy that simply cannot be replicated online. Adhisthana Retreat Centre Nestled in the heart of the Malvern Hills, Adhisthana offers a serene environment to immerse yourself in mindfulness and nature. The 26-acre grounds include peaceful woodlands, wildflower meadows, tranquil ponds, and a sunken garden. A highlight is the ancient oak tree, estimated to be 800-900 years old—a symbol of the deep-rooted wisdom you’ll connect with during the retreat. You will be sharing space with the residents of Adhisthana, an international Buddhist community. The accommodation is comfortable and has the basics for your stay. The charm of Adhisthana is its setting which, whilst not luxurious in terms of amenities, holds great natural beauty and reverence as a retreat centre where people have been meditating for more than 11 years. Accessibility: Adhisthana is disability-friendly, with wheelchair-accessible rooms, disabled toilets, and a lift. Please let us know your specific requirements when booking, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. I had a very positive and rich week as a participant on this retreat - the teaching was excellent, as was the support offered, in so many different ways. Such warmth, inclusivity, humour, groundedness, care from all the team. — Fionnuala, 2025 In-Person Retreatant What to Expect ⏰ Daily Schedule You'll follow a daily schedule that balances structure with flexibility. Our experienced teachers will guide you every step of the way, making the practices accessible whether you're new to meditation or have an established practice. There will be regular rest and meal periods. Whilst we encourage you to attend all scheduled teaching & group sessions, we ask you to do what your mind and body needs - extra rest periods are permitted. 🤫 Periods of Silence The retreat will include periods of warm silence to help you go deeper in your practice and to allow the chattering mind to quieten. These will build gradually throughout the course of the week, to help you adjust. If you have any questions or concerns about what practising silence entails, please do get in touch. 🏡 The Adhisthana Buddhist Community We will share Adhisthana Retreat Center with the live-in Buddhist community, however we teach a fully secular approach to mindfulness, and invite people of all beliefs or none to join us. We warmly welcome those new to Breathworks, as well as old friends. 🍽 Light Chores As part of the etiquette in this shared space, we will ask all retreat attendees to participate where they can in light group chores, such as washing up. There will be a sign-up sheet on arrival where you can select a slot (you won't need to help every day!) We ask everyone helps where they possibly can, but we never want this to be a barrier to attending - please let us know if you have any concerns about this. ♿️ Accessibility Inclusivity and accessibility is at the heart of all Breathworks events. Adhisthana Retreat Centre is fully wheelchair accessible. As well as wheelchair accessible single rooms, we reserve single rooms with private bathrooms for those managing health challenges. These rooms are offered at £500 and can be applied for via this short online form. Very profound - the most grounded I have felt for a long time.
