General Questions

What is this retreat about?

This online retreat is a 7-day immersive experience led by Breathworks Founder Vidyamala Burch OBE and Lilasuri Morris. It focuses on mindfulness, meditation, and nature connectedness, helping participants deepen their awareness and inner peace—no matter where they are.

Who is this retreat for?

This retreat is designed for anyone with at least six months of meditation experience. Whether it’s your first retreat or you’re a seasoned meditator, this retreat provides a structured yet flexible approach to deepening your mindfulness practice.

Do I need prior experience with Breathworks?

No, you do not need to have previously attended a Breathworks event. As long as you have six months or more of meditation experience, you are welcome to join.

What if I live in a different time zone?

The retreat is hosted in UK time (BST), but all sessions will be recorded and available instantly. You can watch at a time that suits you.

The Retreat Experience

How does an online retreat work?

Sessions will be live-streamed via Zoom, with opportunities for group discussions, breakout rooms, and interactive participation. You’ll also have access to a private online community where you can connect with fellow retreatants. The retreat, for both online and in-person attendees, will be led by Vidyamala & Lilasuri, however the online group will also have two dedicated retreat assistants who will be there to welcome you into the Zoom room, answer questions, and pass on any feedback or comments to the in-person retreat team.

Can I attend part of the retreat, or do I need to join all sessions?

While we encourage you to attend as many sessions as possible to get the most out of the retreat, all sessions will be recorded and available to participants, allowing you to catch up if you miss anything. Many of our community live with health challenges, and some make a conscious decision to miss certain elements of the retreat programme for rest or activities that keep them well - we actively encourage this, and are more than happy to speak with you, should this be helpful.

What will the retreat schedule look like?

The retreat follows a structured schedule, including guided meditations, mindful movement, breath-work, small group discussions, and reflective silence. The full daily schedule is available on the retreat information page. We have purposely built in plenty of space for rest and personal practice, whether that's a mindful walk, nap or journalling session.

What practices will be included in the retreat?

Participants will engage in:

  • Guided meditations

  • Breathwork for nervous system regulation

  • Gentle mindful movement (accessible for all bodies)

  • Periods of silence (including a full day of ‘warm silence’ on Wednesday)

  • Group discussions and reflections

How can I connect with nature if I live in a city or don’t have access to outdoor spaces?

This retreat isn’t about the amount of nature around you but rather about how you tune into it. You’ll learn to connect with natural elements through mindful observation, guided practices, and engaging with small natural objects like a houseplant or seeds.

Will I need to spend time outdoors?

No, but we encourage you to engage with nature in whatever way is accessible to you—whether that’s looking out a window, tending to a houseplant, or listening to natural sounds.

Practicalities & Payment

Will I need any special equipment or setup?

You’ll need a device with internet access and a quiet space where you can participate in sessions. A comfortable seat, cushion, or yoga mat is recommended for meditation and movement practices.

What if I have technical issues?

We recommend testing your Zoom connection beforehand. If you experience technical difficulties, our support team will be available to assist you as best they can.

What are the pricing options?

We offer three pricing tiers:

  • Standard Rate (£395) – Full-priced rate

  • Concessionary Rate (£284) – For individuals earning less than £22,000 per year (£25,000 in London) or those in financial hardship

  • Bursary Rate (£159) – Limited places for those with significant financial barriers

We trust our participants to assess their eligibility honestly and ask you to consider the Standard Rate if you possibly can, to keep our offering sustainable. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your situation, please contact us here.

Are there discounts for Breathworks teachers?

Yes, accredited Breathworks teachers receive a 10% discount on the Standard or Concessionary rates. Details of how to access your discounted rate are on the Community of Practice Teachers & Trainee's Group.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, you can spread the cost with interest-free monthly instalments. The full balance must be paid 7 days before the retreat begins. Click here if you would like to request a payment plan - please note, you do not also need to purchase the event via the website (this is only for people wishing to pay in full).

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel, you can get a refund (minus a £35 admin fee) or transfer to another event up to 7 days before the start date. Unfortunately, no refunds are available within 7 days of the start date, but you will still have access to all recordings.
